Munich, 14. November 2008 – NEC Display Solutions is proud to announce the expansion of its recently introduced projector series (NEC NP400, NP500 and NP600) with an additional WXGA-resolution model, the NEC NP500W. This makes a wide-format device in NEC’s standard desktop series of projectors now available for users. The NEC NP500W is comprehensively equipped and comes with many practical features – for example, it can be administered directly over a network via its RS45 interface, or controlled using the Virtual Remote function directly from a PC via the VGA cable. User-friendly operation is assured by various automatic functions such as Keystone Correction, Autostart or Quick Power Off. In addition, EcoMode operation of the device lowers operating costs and enables a long lamp lifetime. Whether it’s used for portable applications, as a desktop projector or installed in a fixed location on the ceiling, the 3,000 ANSI lumens brightness of the NEC NP500 means it is ideal for deployment in small to medium-sized businesses. Its quick and simple operation, as well as high cost-efficiency are particular strengths, which also make the NEC NP500W particularly suitable for use within the education and training sectors.
Particularly aimed for deployment in educational facilities such as at schools or universities, NEC Display Solutions is also offering its “Education“ package for the NEC NP500W. In this case, customers are offered an extended three-year guarantee period for the projector lamp. Furthermore, apart from the wide-screen resolution that ensures an easy-to-view picture format, the projector also offers impressive performance with its comprehensive set of features. Particularly within the education sector, projected images vary considerably not just due to the displayed content, but also because of the different kinds of application. Whether it’s used as a portable device for deployment in multiple locations, or installed in a fixed location but used by lots of different people, the numerous automatic features of the NEC NP500W means that it has been excellently equipped to handle almost every situation. It features automatic vertical keystone correction and wall-colour correction functions that give it flexibility from any location within a room. The Quickstart function allows users the ability to already start making their presentations only eight seconds after the power supply is switched on. Thanks to its Auto Input function, the projector automatically recognizes the connected signal source, whilst if the signal is interrupted the device automatically switches itself off.
A particularly practical and cost-saving feature is the possibility of controlling the NEC NP500W over a network using the LAN connector port. Here, the free PC Control Utility software allows the projector to be centrally controlled. The software also offers a variety of timer functions, as well as the flexibility of sending users an e-mail to give advance warning about any device malfunction. Customers can therefore arrange for quicker maintenance as well as organize a more planned maintenance schedule, since the running times and statuses of individual devices can be called up at any time.
The Virtual Remote software offers an additional means to control the projector. The various settings of the projector can be adjusted not just using the remote control unit, but also directly from the computer using the VGA cable, so that an additional cable isn’t required. The required software – enabling control over the network as well as by Virtual Remote – can be downloaded free of charge from NEC Display Solutions.
With a brightness of 3,000 ANSI lumens, the NEC NP500W is particularly suited for projection applications in bright teaching rooms and meeting locations. It has also been equipped with an integrated 7 W loudspeaker. A particularly important factor in the education sector as well as in the corporate environment is the TCO (total cost of ownership). In order to keep the TCO low, NEC Display Solutions has equipped the NEC NP500W with a selection of energy-saving features. For example, the lamp lifetime for this model is up to 4,000 hours (in EcoMode) which reduces costs but also minimizes waste. Alongside the EcoMode, the NEC NP500W also offers a special Power Save option, which allows additional power to be saved when in Stand-by mode (3 Watts instead of 11 Watts). In this way, not only can users keep their TCO low, but they can also be more environmentally conscious in their use of energy and resources.
As with all models in the new NEC NP projector series, the NEC NP500W has also been equipped with the latest security features such as, for example, a Kensington lock connector and password protection. Additional protection is offered by the security bar that allows a security cable to be fastened directly to the projector on the underside of its housing, and which further secures the device against unauthorized access.
