Edge LED Backlighting Technology

LED edge backlight technology is the ideal choice for the MultiSync® XS series with its ability to deliver brightness with decreased power use and less weight. It also offers reduced heat output and eliminates the use of mercury in backlighting.
In particular, the shallower profile of edge LED technology allowed for a reduction in the overall display depth to less than 4.4 cm, with no performance compromises.

Edge LEDs have a row of white LEDs at the top and bottom. A professional 55” screen with 600cd/m² brightness such as the MultiSync X551S will have approximately 296 LEDs in total delivering similar brightness to CCFL technology  but consuming up to 50% less power.

Edge LED is currently dominating the market because it enables a very slim design which takes LCD product design to a new level. Professional screens such as the MultiSync® X461S and the X551S are as slim as 43.3mm thanks to edge LED design.
