Munich, 2 June, 2014 – NEC Display Solutions Europe is proud to announce MediaCom and Clear Channel UK have chosen to trial NEC VUKUNET, a platform that automates the buying, planning, delivery and optimisation of digital-out-of-home (DOOH) campaigns. The pilot with NEC’s VUKUNET ad serving platform marks the beginning of the Programmatic era in UK out-of-home media.
Using VUKUNET, MediaCom’s Digital and Out-of-Home team are dynamically targeting shoppers within 40 Clear Channel malls across the UK, including Meadowhall in Sheffield and Manchester’s Trafford Centre.
The VUKUNET platform helps streamline end-to-end campaign buying and delivery process through an intuitive online interface, sending creative directly to digital screens, eliminating multiple manual processes and allowing clients and agencies to report on and optimise their campaigns in real-time.
Alex Hollingdale, Product Director at Clear Channel UK, said: “This is another example of Clear Channel pushing the boundaries in out-of-home and doing things differently. Last year we launched the UK’s first permanent roadside Mobile Platform called Connect, installing 25,000 interactive tags on Adshel panels in bus shelters and in malls, and Storm, a brand that gives advertisers a new way of trading on premium sites. We are delighted to work with MediaCom and VUKUNET and are excited to see the outcome of the trial.”
Gill Reid, Board Director at MediaCom, said: “We are just at the start of a journey to discover the true potential of digital-out-of-home and delighted to be at the forefront in using this new technology. We are very confident that this will benefit the delivery, and ultimately, the optimisation, of our digital campaigns and are excited to be working with Clear Channel and VUKUNET to bring this to life in the real world.”
Dirk Huelsermann, Head of VUKUNET EMEA at NEC Display Solutions Europe, said: “We are proving that DOOH campaigns can and will be booked at the same time as an online campaign. Our aim is to not only make it easier for agencies to book campaigns now, but in the future to connect our platform to online ad serving platforms and open up new advertiser opportunities.
Notes to editors:
VUKUNET is a booking platform that can connect with any internet-enabled digital screen and can be used to plan and buy DOOH media campaigns in a very similar way to how online advertising is bought. Not only will the platform allow you to plan and buy by audience type, environment, CPM etc. it will also automatically deliver artwork to each screen and produce post-campaign play-out reports.
Programmatic Direct is advertising that is planned, booked, delivered and optimised automatically by software interfaces and algorithms. For more information on the various Programmatic trading models, see: http://www.iab.net/media/file/IAB_Digital_Simplified_Programmatic_Sept_2013.pdf
